What is an Electric Garage Door Opener and Why to use it

Article by Jeremy Cohen

Each household which has a car is entitled to have its own garage. Not just for the convenience and added benefit it gives, but also for the security a garage provides. And the only way to maintain and maximize the usability of one’s garage is to provide it with the most acceptable garage door opener. One of the finest choices for a garage door opener nowadays is the electric door opener. This is as it supplies the driver with the amenity of opening and closing the door to his desired level while not having to go in and out of his vehicle. Electrical overhead garage openers were first developed by C. G. Johnson of Hartford town, Indiana in 1926, and since that time garage openers have come a long wayre material and design. Denver Garage doors use springs with high tension to help the garage door open and close.Fundamentally these openers are motorized devices attached to garage doors which exert tensile strength that lifts and lowers the door. Electrical garage, contrary to popular belief, do not essentially use electricity to supply the doors’ lifting power. Instead the electricity comes into play when manipulating the garage door. The electrical opener permits the owner to control how far the door opens and closes thru the electrical motor. This motor, which is used to open and close the door, can direct the distance the garage door opens and closes by completely shutting off once you hit the buttom of your opener RC. This is a very advancedfeature as it allows for simple management of the door. The main and most vital feature of any opener is its springs. These springs are put through extraordinarily high tension and so supply the opener with lifting power. Electrical garage opener’s springs can either be extension springs or strain springs. Extension springs work with the theory of expansion and contraction to lift the door, while stress springs are positioned on the garage door opener’s header and can be seen wound up in a tight coil. Because of its firmly wound-up form, tension springs can hold much stress and thus be very dynamic lifters. This is why stress springs are used for double door garages instead of extension springs which don’t have enough lifting power. Aside from the springs, the typical electric opener also customarily is composed of a power unit and an electric motor. These are both attached to a vertical or horizontal track in the opener where a trolley slides forwards and backwards, so allowing the door to open and close. Depending on what type of garage door motor you have in your garage, this part will move up and down the steel guided track as your door opens and closes. The electric garage door opener can generally be found above the door with the power unit near the back of the garage, and can be controlled using a remote and switches. If you are looking for more information about Denver garage door openers, check out G & L Garage Door Company.
